The Black-lined Barb is a freshwater fish native to Sri Lanka, commonly found in rivers, streams, and reservoirs throughout the island. It is recognized by the prominent dark stripe running along the side of its body, which gives the species its common name. This active and social fish prefers clear, flowing waters with rocky or sandy bottoms and areas with aquatic vegetation. It usually forms small groups and feeds on algae, plant material, small insects, and other tiny aquatic organisms.
